Armas to Be Arraigned on Robbery, Assault Charges
Mario Armas, the Rome real estate entrepreneur who was convicted on federal drugs charges earlier this year, is expected to waive formal arraignment today on robbery charges in the Floyd Superior Court.
Armas is charged with multiple counts of armed robbery and aggravated assault in connection with an incident at a home on Stonebrook Drive in 2004.
Armas was supposedly led to believe that there was a large amount of cash at the residence and that he was attempting recover some losses in his drug dealings. Weapons, cash, jewelry and electronics items were stolen in the crime which Armas allegedly arranged, but did not physically participate in.
