Redmond To Go Tobacco-Free
According to a company press release, Redmond Regional Medical Center, along with all of the TriStar facilities, is committed to providing a safe, clean and healthy environment for our patients, employees, visitors, physicians and other customers.
To support this commitment, and in response to studies that indicate that the use of tobacco is a leading cause of preventable illness and premature death, Redmond has announced plans to adopt a tobacco-free policy for all of its campuses effective August 1, 2008.
This policy means patients, visitors, volunteers, employees, vendors and physicians will be prohibited from using tobacco products anywhere on Redmond properties. This decision was made in support of Redmond’s mission to be committed to the care and improvement of human life. By eliminating smoke that can prove harmful, especially to those already sick, Redmond can better enhance, sustain and restore the health of patients and maintain a healthy environment for employees, physicians, families and visitors.
On April 1, 2008, Redmond became tobacco and smoke-free for its employees. This was the first step towards becoming an entirely tobacco and smoke-free campus. Through programs designed to help adhere to the hospital’s commitment to become tobacco and smoke-free, Redmond will make every effort to support patients, families and staff with the implementation of this new policy. Communication pieces have been posted around the campus and several internal programs to assist associates in the transition are in place.
