DOT Explains Priority Project

A proposed weight system for prioritizing road construction projects in Georgia was explained to Rome and Floyd County leaders Thursday.

GDOT planner Jason Crane said the department is seeking feedback from local officials and anticipates that the plan will be finalized early this fall.

Specific transportation plans for each county should be completed within another 12 months. It is unclear how long the new process will delay projects in Rome, such as the west bypass from Blacks Bluff Rd. to the Alabama Hwy, a project that was originally supposed to have gone to bid this spring.
