Rome Hit By Strong Storms

By RNW Reporter Hayden Jennings
A line of very strong storms left Rome reeling in their wake Sunday Evening.
The ominous clouds could be seen approaching from Alabama (Above shot looking West from the intersection of US 411 and Dodd Blvd.) around 4:30 PM.
Winds preceded the storms causing many downed trees and even snapping the power line of the red lights at US 411 and Chulio Rd.
Lightning was also the suspected cause in a storage building fire on Huffaker Rd. The building stored ammunition and was a total loss.
The storms had moved through by 6:15 PM, though their aftermath was still being felt as weakened trees continued to fall and electricity was out in areas throughout the county.
