By RomeNewswire • on July 1, 2008

An all out man hunt failed to locate an armed robber who held up the Village Green convenience store in Lindale Tuesday.

According to store owner Bravin Patel, the suspect pulled a gun on him outside and forced him to go inside the store where patel gave him several thousand dollars from the register.

According to police, the suspect was a skinny, dark skinned black male about 170 lbs, wearing a black shirt and white shorts and had a mask.

The suspect fled from the store and ran toward Circle Avenue where he was spotted by residents running toward the wooded area at the end of Circle. There he supposedly entered the woods and was not spotted again until he was seen near the railroad tracks by a Floyd County Public works employee behind Lindale First Baptist church where he quickly re entered the woods.

A K-9 from the city of Rome police department was called in but apparently lost the scent somewhere near the railroad tracks.

officers from the Floyd County Police department, the Floyd County Sheriff’s office and the City of Rome participated in the search.

We will have more as it is available.
