Pedestrian Killed On US Hwy. 27 North

By RNW Reporter Hayden Jennings

The Independence Day Travel Period began with a tragedy in Rome when a pedestrian was hit and killed in Armuchee Thursday Night.

The Accident occurred around 9:45 PM on Martha Berry Hwy. just North of its intersection with Floyd Springs Rd. The pedestrian was hit in front of Georgia Tactical and Armuchee Church of God while crossing the Northbound Lanes.

Witnesses’ efforts to initially begin CPR were found to be futile by Rome Fire Engine 8, who told that the victim was possibly already dead, a fact confirmed less than two minutes later by Redmond EMS.

The wreck shutdown the Northbound Lanes of US Hwy. 27 until around 10:45 PM. The coroner and a representative from Clyde Collier Photography were called in to assist the Floyd Co. PD in their investigation.
