Transportation Poll: Cartersville Residents Rank Congestion Inprovements In Downtown More Important Than 411 Re-alignment

Congestion in downtown Cartersville ranks as a higher transportation issue than potential re-alignment of the SR 20, US 41 and US 411 interchange which is the bane of Romans headed to I-75.

The Cartersville Bartow Chamber of Commerce poll found that 49% of the survey takers felt that the Main Street, Tennessee Street intersection was their highest priority for improvement.

The intersection that Romans hate was number 2 followed by the Highway 61 Euharlee Rd. intersection on the west side of Cartersville.

The Rome chamber of commerce has been lobbying for a new route to I-75 for more than 20 years in an effort to steer away from the series of turns and stop signs at highway 20,41 and 411.

I am originally from Cartersville and I agree that the traffic situations are getting worse. However, when it comes to getting to I-75 from Rome, I always go 53N to 140 and get to I-75 from Adairsville…It’s a faster route and even though you may be further north on I-75 than you want, you don’t have to worry about the Cartersville traffic.
