Atlanta Mover Arrested For Stealing Truckload Of Furnishings

An Atlanta man has turned himself into the Bartow County Sheriffs Office in connection with the theft of approximately 77,000.00 dollars worth of household goods and furnishings.

According to Sheriff Clark Millsap, David Newton Smith, 50 years of age, of 302 Perimeter Center North, Atlanta was moving household items for a couple in Bartow County on Monday June 30,2008. When there was a disagreement of how Smith was going to be paid. Smith then took the truckload of furnishings belonging to the couple and drove back to Atlanta depriving them of their belongings.

Investigators have charged David Newton Smith with one count of Theft by Taking. Smith turned himself in to the Bartow County Jail on Friday July 11,2008 and was bonded out shortly after on a 5,000.00 dollar bond. All of the victim’s property was returned back to them on this date.
