Economy Dictates Modifications to W. Third Street Deals
A sluggish economy has prompted the city of Rome and three property sellers on W. 3rd Street to renegotiate part of the sale of acreage to the city.
Rome will make interest only payments this Friday on three parcels the city agreed to acquire a year ago. City manager John Bennett says that in turn, the city has extended a deadline on the closing of the sale of a part of the land to developers David Doss and Tommy Hackett until the end of the year.
Bennett hinted that it could be extended even longer if economic conditions dictate.
