Rome Holds the Line on Tax Levy
The Rome City commission met in a called session Wednesday to conduct a public hearing on the proposed tax levy. Finance committee chair Evie McNiece said the levy will total 24.43 mills, unchanged fro a year ago.
City manager John Bennett told commissioners that the city may not be done cutting the budget in 2008 after examining mid year budget numbers at the end of June.
The commission will hold another public hearing on the budget next Monday night and a final hearing and vote is slated for Thursday the 24th.
