County Commission to Look at Tax Levy, Pay Plan

A new pay plan for Floyd County public safety employees will be formally presented to county commissioners tonight and a large contingent of public safety employees are expected to be in attendance to urge the commission to approve the pay plan.

The county commission will also conduct the first of three required public hearings to look at the tax levy for this fall, a levy that is likely to increase and could go up by close to three quarters of a mill. That would mean a tax hike of perhaps $85 for someone with a quarter of a million home. Tonight’s meeting starts at 6:00.
