3rd Fire in 2 Years Strikes US 411 Mobile Home

A property owner on US Hwy. 411 near the Floyd-Bartow County Line has again lost his house to a fire, the third time in the past 2 years.
The resident was again in the hospital Thursday as he was during the last two fires.
Rome firefighters responded around 11:30 AM to the mobile home, located on the South side of 411 between Biddy Rd. and Martin’s Salvage Yard, after passer-bys spotted smoke and flames. Luckily, Rome Fire Engine 4 was at Ga Loop1 at US 411 when the call was dispatched and responded, being closer than the other two fire companies responding.
Firefighters suspicions were answered when they arrived to find that it was the same property with this being the third different trailer to burn there.
In all, 3 Engine Companies and 1 Quint Engine along with the Battalion Chief, Deputy Chief, and Asst. Fire Marshal responded to the scene. The additional engine companies were needed to shuttle water because Floyd County Water lines do not run that far out.
The home was gutted, primarily in the back where the entire patio and rear wall were burned.
The Asst. Fire Marshal was on the scene to investigate the fire, which was knocked down by Noon.
Floyd EMS was on the scene as well, where they set up a “rehab” station, complete with cold water for the firefighters.
One Eastbound Lane of us 411 was shut down by Floyd Co. Police due to where fire vehicles had to park in a curve.
