Three Area Schools Miss AYP
Neither the Rome, nor the Floyd County system passed the Adequate yearly progress threshold for 2007-2008.
In the county system, Coosa High did not make AYP based on academic performance while in the city system, Main and West central Elementary schools did not cross the AYP bar.
Only one system in the middle Coosa Valley had all of it’s schools make AYP and that was the Cartersville city system.
The Hamilton Crossing, Kingston and Pine Log Elementary schools in Bartow County did not make the grade. Chattooga High, Summerville Middle, Massey and Summerville Elementary schools didn’t meet the criteria in Chattooga County. Gordon Central and Sonoraville East Middle schools did not meet AYP in Gordon County and down in Polk County 8 of 11 schools did not meet the mark, with only Cherokee Elementary, Euharlee Kindergarten and Rockmart Middle passing.
The State was quick to point out that the percentage of students making passing scores on standardized tests went up and the curriculum is getting tougher.
