Saturday Events Hampered By Weather
By RNW Reporter Hayden Jennings
Two large events around Rome were sporadically hampered as spotty showers and thunderstorms moved throiugh the area.
A back-to-school event at Crane St. Park complete with inflatables and representative from the Calhoun Police Dept. was temporarily halted when rain moved through. Calhoun Police were on hand with a drug prevention program and their Drug Task Force Hummer. Participants were able to move under the basketball court shelter as the rain began to pour.
Meanwhile, across town at Ridge Ferry Park, the Lick n’ Sticks Music Festival where both Local Bands and Prominent Bands such as the Marshall Tucker Band and Georgia Satellites continued. The only indication of the pouring rain came as Rome Police Officers stood under the tailgate of an SUV near the entrance.
While the two events continued as the initial rain showers moved through, it is unclear wheteher they continued through the strong storms that moved through around 4:00 PM.
