Martin Beats Jones, Incumbents Defeated In Chattooga

4.6% of Floyd County’s registered voters overwhelmingly endorsed Jim Martin for the Democratic nomination to oppose Senator Saxby Chambliss this fall.

Martin got 1,584 votes in Floyd County to Vernon Jones 422.

Statewide, Martin won by close to 18% over Jones who was the leading vote getter in the first round of balloting.

In Chattooga County, Jason Winters won the race for county commissioner while Ralph Kellett lost to John Everett in the Sheriff’s race. Everett will not have any opposition in the fall while Winters will tangle with Republican Charles Black in November.
