Planning Commission Rejects Substation
The Rome Floyd Planning Commission has recommended that Floyd County commissioners deny a request for a new electricity substation at the intersection of Highway 156 and Haywood Valley Rd. in northern Floyd County.
The North Georgia Electric Membership Co-Op is seeking the substation to accommodate growth in the north Floyd community but citizens in the area objected to the proposed site and said it would have a negative impact n the aesthetics of the area.
In spite of the fact that planning staff had recommended approval, the volunteer board recommended denial on a 6-3 vote.
