Several Drug Arrests Overnight

It was a busy night for Rome and Floyd County narcotics officers.

42 year old Rogers Luther Sams Jr. was charged with possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute and tampering with evidence after officers showed up at his home with a search warrant. Police allege that Sams tried to flush cocaine down a toilet.

In a separate case, 34 year old Jody E. Wiley of a Huffacre Rd. address was charged with conspiracy to sell soma to undercover officers while 54 year old Pamela Wydene Pope of a Tamassee Lane address was alleged to have actually sold ten soma pills to an undercover officer. Both Wiley and Pope were taken into custody at the Royal Inn on the Martha Berry Highway.

47 year old Levon W. Pope of a Banister St. address in Rome was charged with possession of methamphetamines with the intent to distribute following a traffic stop on the old Rockmart Rd. at Wax Rd. He supposedly blew through a stop sign at the intersection and faces a half dozen moving violations as well.
