Gunfire Reported In North Rome Fight
By RNW Reporter Hayden Jennings
Rome Police are investigating a fight in the 300 Block of Tolbert St. in North Rome that included gunfire early Sunday Morning.
The fight was first reported around 1:10 AM by someone at the scene who told Floyd County E-911 that there was a fight and shots had been fired, then hung up. As 911 dispatched police units and tried to re-establish contact with the original complaintant, a neighbor called and reported that there were gunshots.
Police arrived to find the main suspect still on the scene, described as a black male wearing a red t-shirt. The first police units had the suspect lay on the ground until back-up arrived and were able to cuff him.
Initial reports indicate that no one was shot, though an ambulance was called to the scene for a 6-month pregnant female who was struck in the abdomen during the fight.
Police arrested 3 males in the incident who were booked into the Floyd County Jail a short time later.
