2008 Knights of Columbus BBQ is ready to sizzle
Let the Knights of Columbus from St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Rome do the labor this Labor Day when it comes to holiday barbecue.
Nearly a ton of pork and beef, about 250 chickens and 1,800 pints of Brunswick stew will be on sale beginning at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 1, at Rome Civic Center. Sales continue until 2 p.m. or until the food runs out (which occurred at 12:30 p.m. last year so come early).
For more than 40 years, Knights Council 4410 has reserved Labor Day weekend for its largest fund-raising event of the year. In 2007, more than $13,000 was raised with all profits going into community projects supported by the Knights.
Once again, you’re invited to dine with the Knights at the civic center or get your orders to go. You’ll find plenty of iced tea if you’re dining with the Knights– and they’ll even clear your place to make it a totally labor-free meal.
