Forest Service to Cut More than 5000 Acres Across Four Counties
Conasauga District US Forest Service Ranger Michelle Jones has signed off on a decision and finding of no significant impact for a project to thin the Armuchee ridges and restore other species to areas of the Chattahoochee National Forest in northwest Georgia.
The project will involve more than 650 acres of long and shortleaf pine restoration, over 450 acres of oak and oak-pine restoration as well as the thinning of more than 5700 acres to improve the forest health.
Work will be done in Chattooga, Floyd, Gordon and Walker counties.
