City Says Brightly Colored Substance In Water Is Dye

Rome Firefighters responded to what was first thought to be a large anti-freeze spill in the creek in Heritage park. However, officials from the city Water department now confirm to RomeNewswire that the substance in the creek was not anti-freeze. It was a brightly colored dye that city engineers placed into the storm drainage system to track the flow.

Mike Hackett with the city of Rome Water Department said the dye was placed into a storm drain near Second Avenue.

He said the dye is completely harmless and does not pose a danger.
