A spill of an unknown substance on the Loop near GA 53 that stretched to Rome High School caused traffic to slide and made driving treacherous Tuesday morning around 10:30am.
Rome City Police officer Michelle Sims “we have no idea what it is, it appears to be some sort of grease.”
The city of Rome sent out a sand speader to apply sand and absorb some of the substance.
As of 11:15am, the sand had been spread and traffic was back to normal.
