Commissioner Collins Upset With Time Table Of Fence Removal For Parks
An ugly exchange took place Monday between city commissioners Bill Collins and Kim Canada over fences that are still up at the Tolbert and Crane Street parks in the city. Commissioner Collins said he wanted a time table for the fences to come down. Commissioner Kim Canada said he had thought the issue was settled last week at the community development meeting and the fences will come down as soon as money is available.
Commissioner Milton Slack said he thought the issue had been settled last week, to the approval of residents.
Commissioner Collins continued his remarks against the rec department for erecting fences around new playing fields to begin with and wanted a timetable for fencing to come down.
When the new field was installed at Crane Street, it was immediately vandalized with virtually every sprinkler head serving the watering system destroyed causing thousands of dollars in damages.
