YMCA Announces 2.5 Million Capital Campaign
The Rome Floyd County YMCA Board of Trustees announced today a 2.5 million dollar “YMCA Building for Tomorrow” campaign. This three-year campaign will include a 1.7 million dollar renovation of the YMCA facility on East 2nd Avenue, a $600,000 designation to the YMCA Annual Fund for financial assistance and a $200,000 allocation to the YMCA Endowment Fund.
The renovations will include a new and updated lobby and play center, family locker rooms, updated boy’s and girl’s locker rooms, a new state-of-the art cardio/wellness area, a new aerobics studio, a group cycling room, a Pilates and Yoga studio and a new youth center with an exercise arcade.
“This campaign will position the Y to serve Rome & Floyd County now and in the future, said Scott McCreless, Executive Director. With the health crisis in this community, who else is better to address this than the YMCA. The Y is about bringing people together and helping them to become healthier and happier citizens regardless of their socio-economic situation.”
Board President Bob Grizzard is chairperson of the campaign. His committee’s efforts have raised 1.4 million dollars to date.
