Volkswagen looking at NW Ga Sites

A large contingent of economic developers made an overnight stop in Rome Tuesday after a day long bus tour of properties in northwest Georgia.

The last stop for the day was Rome’s Richard Russell Airport.

The group looked at locations in Canton, Cartersville, Adairsville, Calhoun, Dalton, Ringgold and Rock Springs Tuesday prior to visitng Rome’s airport property.

Wednesday’s schedule includes sites at Highway 53 and 140 in Floyd County as well as sites in Rockmart, Cedartown and Carrollton.

They are looking at sites with representatives from Volkswagen which announced they would build a huge auto assembly plant near Chattanooga and are looking for sites for prospective suppliers to locate.
