Hurricane Causes Fear of Fuel Shortage! Local Gas Stations Raising Prices

(Photo above shows the pump at Dragon Fuel on Park Avenue in Lindale)
A hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico is feeding the fear of a gas shortage locally as fuel customers around town are seeing a wide variety of prices this morning. Stations are charging anywhere from $3.55 per gallon for regular to upwards of $3.99 per gallon.
(Left, Photo shows price of fuel at West Rome Citgo) Cars lined up at gas stations all over town last night but it seems the worst lines were in the West Rome area as some stations reported having cars lined up in the road and down the block and several stations actually ran our of gas.
We received an email from a reader this morning about a gas station in Lindale that was supposedly charging customers over $5 per gallon Thursday night.
They tell us that Dragon Fuel on Park Avenue as of last night was charging over $5 per gallon. This morning RomeNewswire checked the prices at the store and they were charging $3.79 per gallon. Just across the street, the Petro was charging only $3.60 per gallon and the owner of that store, Bobby Patel said that what is happening across the street at his competitors is just wrong. Patel said, “If I receive a call telling me that my gas is going up, they I will raise the price but so far, my cost has not gone up.”
