Commissioner Says Inter basin transfers “A water war within a water war”

Rome Commissioner Buzz Wachsteder spoke of the importance of input at a water forum hosted by the Corps of Engineers in Rome Tuesday night. He called continuing inter basin transfers of water a “water war within a water war” and pointed out that Paulding County’s plans for a new reservoir call for taking more than 40 million gallons of water a day from the Etowah and returning less than 2 million in the form of treated wastewater.

The water meeting will be held at the Forum downtown tonight from 5-8:00.
