City Residents To Pay More For Water

By RomeNewswire • on September 17, 2008

It looks like Rome water and sewer rates will go up again next year. Water volume rates are recommended to go up 2% and sewer rates 3%. Base fees could also go up by as much as $3.

City manager John Bennett says that 40% of water and sewer revenue is consumed by debt on new facilities mandated by federal and state environmental regulators.

A formal recommendation regarding the proposed increases will be made to the water and sewer committee next month.
