Corps Will Take Three Years to Develop Water Manual

The Army Corps of Engineers is in the process of rewriting it’s water management plan for the entire Coosa River basin, some thing that Corps spokesman Pat Robbins says hasn’t been done since 1952 when Lake Allatoona was the only dam on the system.

He says that the plan is most critical in times of flooding, or drought.

Many who attended the Corps meeting in Rome Tuesday night were surprised to learn that Lake Martin in Alabama hold almost 48% of the storage capacity on the entire basin.

Most Romans continued to express concerns about the inter-basin transfer of water.
