Gas Shortage Hits Rome Full Force

By RNW Reporter Hayden Jennings
Romans have been lucky the past few days as we watched Metro Atlantans fight for gas on the news, but our luck would run out Friday Evening.
According to RNW Editor Jerry Duke, his search for gasoline yeilded no success after 6 stations around 7:30 PM.
After a visit to the East Rome Wal-mart’s Murphy USA Station, one of East Rome’s most frequented gas stations, you could see the worry in the clerk’s face as he posted notices on the pumps. According to the clerk, the station received an 8,000 Gallon Load this afternoon that was gone by 8:00 PM. While the station’s diesel supply was almost at full capacity, the Clerk told RNW that they have been told by management to prepare for the next shipment to be delayed up to a week.
While tensions were running high around Rome Friday, no violence had been reported as is the case in the Metro area.
