Blood Drive For Fredy Lucas Today!
Blood Assurance will host a blood drive in honor of Fredy Lucas at the Floyd County Jail today on Calhoun Road from noon until 5 p.m.
Fredy was recently diagnosed with colon cancer and is currently undergoing treatment.
In previous years, Fredy has served as the blood drive coordinator for the annual blood drive held at the jail.
“He is always trying to help someone else. He was always the first in the chair to donate,” said Sandra Kerr, donor recruiter for Blood Assurance.
Now his friends are hoping that members of the community will attend this year’s blood drive to show their support. For each blood donation, Blood Assurance will make a monetary donation to his family to assist with expenses.
“Fredy is a wonderful person that would give you the shirt off his back. Anytime there is someone in need, you can count on Fredy to be one of the first people there,” said friend Jerry Duke of RomeNewswire.com.
Donors must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds, and be in good health.
All donors will receive a free t-shirt and complimentary snack. Visitors at the blood drive will also be eligible to register for a Nascar prize pack, which includes:
• Grandstand seats for four (4) to the NASCAR Sprint Cup qualifying on October 24, 2008
• Grandstand seats for four (4) to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series – Atlanta 200 to take place on October 25, 2008
