Pedestrian Injured by Van in South Rome

A pedestrian was injured Sunday Afternoon after being hit by a van on South Broad St.

The call came in around 12:40 PM that a person had been hit on S. Broad St. at E. Main St. in front of South Broad Methodist Church. According to reports, the victim initally said that the van had left the scene heading into town on S. Broad St, though as Rome Police arrived, they found the van had in fact not left the scene.

The vicitm was transported to Floyd Medical Center with minor injuries while the driver of the van was arrested and taken to the Floyd County Jail where his charges were unknown at the time of report.

S. Broad St. was partially blocked for about 10 minutes as emergency workers worked to clear the roadway
