Optimist Club Prepares For Annual Pancake Breakfast
(PR From the NOC) “Everybody who’s anybody will be there!” “There” is the Noon Optimist Club of Rome’s 48th annual Pancake Breakfast which will be held on Saturday, November 22d from 6 AM to noon at the Rome Civic Center. Optimist clubs across the world are known for their motto “Friend of Youth”, and proceeds from the breakfast will be used to support programs for the youth of Rome and Floyd County.
Tickets for the all-you-care-to-eat pancake and sausage breakfast are $5.00 in advance or $5.50 at the door. The club is also selling its famous pork sausage for $4.00 per pound. Tickets and sausage may be purchased from club members, by phoning 706-236-3609, or by emailing noonoptimists@comcast.net.
“This year’s slogan, ‘Flippin for Youth, makes a statement about the Noon Optimist Club of Rome, it is all about the youth in Rome and Floyd County” says breakfast chair Scott Wood. “The pancake breakfast is our only fund raiser and it supports our club for the entire year. The more tickets and sausage we sell the more we can help the youth in our local community.”
Club President Penny Evans-Plants is anticipating the biggest breakfast ever. “Last year, this generous community helped us to provide over $18,000 in programs and projects that improve the quality of life for the youth of our community – and we’d love to beat that record amount this year!” “We are so appreciative of all the people who join us for breakfast and especially thankful for all the local businesses who make it possible with their generous donations and support.”
This is the club’s only fundraising event of the year, and proceeds are used to sponsor local events such as the Student of the Month program, Student of the Year program, Terrific Kid program, as well as Essay and Oratorical contests and scholarships for first-year college students. The Noon Optimist Club also provides financial support to such youth-oriented programs as Punt, Pass, and Kick, a Junior Golf Tournament, Floyd against Drugs, the Law Enforcement Appreciation Barbeque, Community Criminal Justice Scholarship, Grands Who Care, Harbor House, Hospitality House, Murphy-Harpst Children’s Centers, Civil Air Patrol, and the Vacation Reading Program at the Sara Hightower Regional Library. We have also reinstated the Respect Law Program which recognizes our local law enforcement official who has gone above and beyond the call of duty.
While you will support the club’s activities by purchasing tickets or sausage, the club is also soliciting corporate sponsorships at the Diamond ($1000), Gold ($500), Silver ($250), or Bronze ($100) levels.
Please email noonoptimists@comcast.net for tickets, sausage, or sponsorship information.
