Water And Sewer Rates Going Up… Again
Water and sewer rates in Rome will be going up in January.
The city Water and Sewer committee approved the new rate schedule will raise monthly bills for the typical user anywhere from $3.25 to $4.25.
City manager John Bennett when quizzed by Commissioner Bill Collins about the need for the increase, said “If I have any concern, it’s being to conservative.”
The water and sewer committee also learned Tuesday that new water meters are producing the anticipated additional revenue by measuring all water that is being used by customers in the city, but that water consumption is down about 16% through the first nine months of the year.
