Heavy Rains Cause Flooding

Localized flooding problems are resulting from heavy and continuing rains in the Rome area.

More than 4 inches of rain has fallen and more is expected.

A car was submerged on Pennington Avenue (seen below) after the driver attempted to pass through the high water.

Burr Drive, Painter Road, Rosedale Road, Dugger Drive, Wilshire Road, Kingston Road at Prater Road and several roads in the Garden Homes area have been flooded.

A Ford Focus (pictured below) left the road because of the wet conditions. No one was injured, but a wrecker was called to the scene on the Rome Bypass just before Ga. 53. The car skidded off the road and hit a road sign before coming to a rest down a small embankment.
