By RNW Reporter Hayden Jennings
An E. 16th St. apartment building was damaged when one of its units caught fire Sunday Night, injuring a man.
According to Rome Fire Battalion Chief Rick Stephens, the fire began around 9:15 PM in the rear bedroom in Unit C and quickly spread into the attic. Most of the fire damage was confined to apartment C while smoke traveled through the other apartments. A male resident also received minor burns. He was checked by Floyd EMS on the scene and refused transport.
A representative from the Fire Marshal’s office was called to investigate the cause (which is unknown at this time) along with the Red Cross to help residents.
