Police Nab Bandits Suspected In Multi-County Armed Robbery Spree
Bartow County Sheriff’s Office Investigators have arrested two Cartersville men in connection with three armed robberies.
According to Sheriff Clark Millsap, investigators have charged Eric Lamont Dixon, 22, and Cedric Boone, 22, both of Cartersville with 2 counts of Armed Robbery, 1 count of Criminal Attempt to Commit Armed Robbery, and 2 counts of False Imprisonment, respectively.
During the early morning hours on Tuesday February 17, 2009, an Armed Robbery attempt was reported to the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office by the Lion’s Den (33 Kent Drive, Cartersville). No entry into the store was made. Later that day, at 10:05PM, an armed robbery was called in to the Sheriff’s Office from the Texaco Food Mart located at 998 Cass White Road. During this robbery, more than $1,600 dollars’ worth of cash, cigarettes and beer were taken at gunpoint by two black males. Just after 4AM the next morning, another armed robbery was called in from the Kangaroo BP at 5265 Glade Road with the same description as the Texaco.
Investigators worked together with others from Cartersville Police Department, Emerson Police Department, Rome Police Department, and eventually officers from Cobb Police Department. Two men were arrested by Cobb County Police Department on Monday March 2, 2009. The two men were Boone and Dixon and they had on their person two BB guns which had the appearance of semi-automatic pistols. Two search warrants were carried out in Cobb County and two in Bartow County by agencies involved between March 5 and March 9. Evidence was obtained to directly link the two men to the robberies above, plus robberies in Cartersville, Emerson, and Rome.
Boone is currently in the Bartow County Jail awaiting bond hearing and Dixon is currently in Cobb County Jail on charges of Loitering and Prowling awaiting transfer to Bartow County Jail to face new charges. The pair also face additional charges in the other jurisdictions named above.
