1 Person Killed, 2 Injured in Hwy. 100 Accident
1 female victim was killed and 2 others seriously injured Saturday Night after a head-on collision near Cave Spring.
The accident occurred shortly after 10:30 PM on GA Hwy. 100 near Blacks Bluff Rd. Cave Spring Fire Units along with Rome Fire and Redmond EMS responded to the accident. Firefighters arrived to find a female trapped inside a small sedan and requiring extrication, a process that took around 10 minutes.
As firefighters worked to free the female, emergency crews decided that due to the extent of her injuries, that Life-Flight would need to be called. Though a landing zone was being set up near by, Life-Flight had been grounded due to inclement weather in the vicinity.
As of 11:00 PM, Crews had freed the driver from the sedan and she along with the two others were sent after being stabilized to Floyd Medical Center around 11:15 PM.
According to inital reports, the driver of the sedan, an unidentified Rome woman, later died at the hospital.
