Deceased Baby’s Parents Get Life In Prison

By RomeNewswire • on July 2, 2009

The parents of 13-month-old Jewel Williams, a Cartersville child who died as a result of a crack-cocaine overdose, will spend the rest of their lives behind bars.

Judge Scott Smith sentenced 23-year-old Stephanie M. Stephens and 29-year-old Anthony Tawon Williams earlier this week.

Williams told Smith, “If I could have saved Jewel’s life by giving my own, there would have never been a trial … I lost my baby … The worst thing that could happen to me has already happened.”
