Parker Trial Set For Mid-August
The murder trial of former LaFayette policeman Sam Parker, accused of killing his wife Theresa Parker two years ago, has been to begin Aug. 17.
Rome District Attorney Lee Patterson was called to prosecute the case while Lookout Mountain Circuit Public Defender David Dunn has been appointed to represent Parker.
The woman’s body has never been found but there is precedent for prosecuting such cases in Georgia. Judge Jon Bolling Wood has approved a change of venue and has selected Bartow County as the pool for potential jurors.
Jury selection will commence Aug. 10. Pre-trial motions are set for the week of July 13 and Wood’s calendar has set aside three weeks for the actual trial, though law enforcement sources indicate that the case would take longer than that.
