Romans Come Out For Annual Fireworks Display
Romans young and old alike crammed into Downtown Rome and Ridge Ferry Park Saturday night to celebrate Independence Day.
Many Romans packed into Ridge Ferry Park where the fireworks were shot from and live muic and activities were taking place. Authorities were expecting more people at the park than usual due to the fact that the 4th fell on a Saturday this year. Though traffic was extremely heavy after the fireworks, the night seemed to go on without a hitch.
As usual, people also packed high points around downtown such as parking decks and lots for a good vantage of the show which lasted around 30 minutes. Among the popular places to be was the top of the Law Enforcement Center parking deck, where over 100 people sat in lawn chairs or in the beds of trucks.
Police Officers were kept busy around the county throughout Saturday answer calls such as a few disturbances along with the ongoing fireworks complaints around town.
