Sam Parker Found Guilty Of Killing His Wife
A jury of citizens from Bartow County finally reached a verdict in the Sam Parker murder trial in Lafayette Thursday afternoon. The panel found Parker, a former Lafayette police officer, guilty of murdering his estranged wife Theresa Parker.
Rome Circuit District Attorney Leigh Patterson, who was called to prosecute the case after Lookout Circuit DA Buzz Franklin recused himself, said after the verdict was read that she wanted to make it clear that authorities would never stop looking for the woman’s remains.
Judge Jon Bo Wood wasted no time in sentencing Parker to life in prison. He was also convicted on charges of violating his oath of office as a police officer and making false statements. He was, however, found not guilty of computer invasion of privacy.
