Riverwalk TAD, North Floyd Park Issues On Tap For Tuesday’s Floyd County Commission Meeting
During Tuesday’s regularly scheduled county commission meeting, commissioners are expected to discuss a recommendation involving Riverwalk development.
The Rome Redevelopment Agency has asked that the Floyd County Commission approve a Riverwalk Redevelopment Project TAD (tax allocation district) application.
A TAD is a designated area in which a local government oversees improvements designed to make the site desirable for projects that would attract developers.
The improvements are usually funded by the issuance of bonds by the local government.
The tax revenues eventually generated by the project are then used to pay off the bonds.
Issues surrounding the North Floyd Park Community Center will also be on tap for discussion during Tuesday’s county commission meeting.
Floyd County Manager Kevin Poe is expected to ask the commission to approve Change Order #4 with Davidson-Southern Inc.
The change order concerns work on the North Floyd Park Community Center and reflects a reduction in cost.
The community center work is funded through the 2006 SPLOST (special purpose, local option sales tax), and the amount of the change order is a reduction of $12,906.69.
County commissioners are also expected on Tuesday to discuss awarding the bid for fitness equipment at North Floyd Park.
In other business, the Floyd County Commission is expected to:
-
Hear George Anderson and Gregory Thomas speak during the public participation portion of the meeting. Anderson will speak about the 2006 SPLOST, while Thomas will discuss My Neighborhood America Foundation.
-
Approve a proclamation recognizing Phil Hart, Superior Court Administrator, as Floyd County’s Employee of the Quarter.
-
Place on first reading a request for rezoning from suburban residential (S-R) to multi-family residential (M-R) for quadruplexes on property located at Midway Park Road in Silver Creek. The public hearing for the rezoning request will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 24, at 6 p.m.
